The New York Yankees have secured contracts with Bahamian Jasrado ‘Jazz’ Chisholm Jr. and Devin Williams, ensuring their status on the team’s 2025 roster. Both agreements avoid arbitration and bring stability to critical areas of the team.
As it relates to the Bahamian, the Yankees’ dynamic infielder agreed to a $5.85 million one-year deal. The 26 year old was acquired from the Miami Marlins at the 2024 trade deadline. Chisholm quickly became a standout in New York, making history as the first Yankees player to hit four home runs in the first three games with the team. In 46 games with the Yankees, he delivered a .273/.325/.500 slash line, including 11 home runs, 23 RBIs (runs batted in), and 18 stolen bases. His overall season performance across both teams was a .256/.324/.436 slash line.
Chisholm transitioned to third base after joining the Yankees, a position he had never played professionally. Despite the shift, he adapted quickly and solidified the Yankees’ infield. The upcoming season will mark Chisholm’s second arbitration year, with his salary increasing from $2.625 million in 2024 to $5.85 million for 2025. Chisholm turns 27 in February and is expected to play a key role in the Yankees’ pursuit of postseason success.
Williams, a two-time National League Reliever of the Year, also finalized his contract with the Yankees. Acquired in an offseason trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, Williams adds depth and reliability to the bullpen. While specific contract terms were not disclosed, the agreement avoids arbitration and locks in one of the more consistent relievers in baseball.
Williams, 30, has been dominant over the past few seasons, boasting a career ERA (earned run average) of 2.03 with 14.2 strikeouts per nine innings. His signature changeup has consistently baffled hitters, earning him elite status among Major League Baseball (MLB) relievers. The Yankees acquired him to reinforce their bullpen, which struggled with injuries and inconsistency in 2024.
Both signings underscore the Yankees’ commitment to building a competitive roster for 2025. Chisholm’s explosive offense and versatility complement Williams’ shutdown ability on the mound. The Yankees aim to capitalize on their potential and return to postseason contention.
